Art the Clown is out to bring chaos to the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they fall asleep peacefully on Christmas Eve
Director Damien Leone said that several major studios showed interest in financing the film based on the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a complete script, but he turned them all down because he was certain they would never let him shoot the opening scene alone, which he describes as “very controversial.” Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he independently finances his films, creates all of his own special effects to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck to make the film more mainstream. Mia mentions that the 5th anniversary of the original massacre was coming up soon, but that it happened on Halloween, and the film taking place on Christmas Day 5 years later would mean the anniversary had only passed 2 months ago. ..

But other than that?
Too long, too disjointed, and more like a collection of random ideas held together with duct tape. Sure, the practical gore effects are fine. It’s a hot mess.
Unfortunately, all that’s left is blood
The plot is nonexistent, Sienna Shaw’s messianic subplot feels forced, and continuity has taken a backseat to shock value. It feels like Leone is trying to ride the wave of a franchise success by throwing every half-baked idea at the screen in the hopes that something will stick. Art offers another night of analysis, but is there a coherent narrative?
